The thing with fashion bloggers is that it’s almost mandatory to fill their web page with ravishing clothes and amazing shoes. But having a real unique attitude is, without a doubt, another thing altogether.

The style blog “Only the Marvelous” features Joanna Ladrido’s love for experimenting different colours and various prints in such a way that she’s able to express herself freely yet still be fashionably chic.

From graduating with a Summa Cum Laude to building a brand name for her co-owned clothing line, this full time designer and fashion blogger is an inspiration for everyone to continuously play around with their own style without taking fashion too seriously.

Enjoy our Q&A with Joanna Ladrido and be sure to add “Only the Marvelous” to your daily fashion reads!

Name: Joanna Ladrido

Age: 25

Education: Psychology and Marketing Management in De La Salle University-Manila

Describe your blog: My blog epitomizes my style which is very moody or bipolar as I most often describe it. I am very unpredictable and rarely stick to just one look. I love being versatile especially with my style which is why I tend to shock people when I go from pastels and pretty to an all black and rocker ensemble with the snap of a finger. I guess experimenting is a major thing for me especially at this age when I away with almost anything. One thing that I am distinctly known for is my undeniable affinity for high heels… I am always seen in heels – the higher, the better!

How did you come up with the name of your blog site:  I got it from my favourite quote by Anais Nin, wherein she revered all things marvelous. It goes, “I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger than reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. NO MORE WALLS.”

I love to live my life that way, basking in only the positive and amazing things thus the name, Only The Marvelous.

Craziest outfit: A black swan Halloween costume in 2010 where I wore a handmade feather corset and ballerina tutu and feathered shoes – all DIY! Nobody could guess who I was since Black Swan had not been shown in the theatres yet at that time!

Stupidest trend:  I have a never say never policy but one thing I really dislike (consider as a pet peeve) is when girls wear denim jeans with their thong strings showing. I find it gross.

Style Icon: When it comes to style class and timeless elegance, my role model would be my mother. She is my fashion hero. Other style icons I look up to would be Daisy Lowe, Edie Sedgwick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Natalie Portman etc.

Favorite brands: Topshop and Zara.

Source of inspiration: Well, I think I influence myself the most, fashion-wise because at the end of the day, I’m the one wearing the clothes and and it’s important for me to be comfortable in my own outfit.

Dream day job other than being a Fashion Blogger: I love my current job (aside from being a fashion blogger) since I am designer, brand owner and creative director of my brand Glitterati. In the future, I dream of having an international line and boutique!

Advice for aspiring Fashion Bloggers: Go for it! Be confident in what you wear, live and love style! Develop your own personal style and love yourself in whatever you wear.
